JAMMU, Jan 23: Department of Posts (DoP), J&K Circle has introduced mechanized ‘same day delivery’ of Express Parcels in Jammu.
The service was today formally launched by John Samuel, Member (Operations) Postal Services Board, New Delhi in a simple but impressive function held at Express Parcel Hub, Jammu in the presence of Chandra Prakash, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel said that the mechanized same day delivery of Express Parcels is a customer friendly service of the department to make the delivery of Parcels faster and more convenient enabling real time (online) tracking of Parcels.
“Express Parcel Service would be available both for retail and bulk customers while Business Parcel would only be available for bulk customers” said John Samuel adding that under the service the Parcels will be transmitted through the fastest means available.
Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Chandra Prakash in his address expressed confidence that the latest initiative by the Department of Posts will prove a boon for business firms associated with tourism industry as they dispatch large number of handicrafts, blankets etc to various places in other States.
Same Day Delivery of Express Parcels through motor vehicles has been made available at Express Parcel Hub, Jammu RMS and later service will be extended to other places also.
