JAMMU, May 12: Dogri Sanstha organized a ‘Geet Sandhya’ in which poetry of Inderjeet Kesar was presented to audience through musical compositions rendered by well known composer and singer Sham Sajan.
Prof Satya Pal Srivats presided over the programme while Anjali Sharma, ASD Doordarshan, was the chief guest.
The singers, who lent their voice to the lyrics of Inderjeet Kesar, include ManjuBala, Gursharan Kour, Sargam, Pant, Sham Sajan, Shyam Mangal, Rakesh Dogra, Karan Singh and Bhanu Choudhary.
Sanjay Pashi and Karan Malhotra provided the masterly accompaniment on Guitar and Tabla, respectively.
The audience included galaxy of all well known names in the field of literature, music and culture and other prominent citizens who had turned up in large numbers.
Prof Srivats in his presidential address praised the artistic talent of the singers and had words of appreciation for directly appealing poetry of Kesar.
Anjali Sharma while speaking said Jammu has, in reality become a hub of cultural activities and a major credit for that goes to Dogri Sanstha.
Inderjeet Kesar also read a few of his geets on the occasion.
Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, expressed his happiness at the enthusiastic response of the pubic to the monthly musical programmes based on the works of Dogri poets.
The programme was conducted by Raj Kumar Behrupia and it concluded with vote of thanks by Prof Veena Gupta, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha.
