Dogri Sanstha organises musical evening on Sufiyana poetry

JAMMU, Nov 6:  A musical evening based on Sufiyana poetry in Dogri, was organised in K.L Seghal Hall by Dogri Sanstha Jammu, where Devender Singh Rana, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister was the chief guest.
Selected poetry of eminent Dogri Poets, Parama Nand Almast, Goga Ram Sathi, Jitender Udhampuri,Virender Kesar and Gianeshwar, who have written in the Sufiyana style, were presented in musical compositions rendered by veteran Music Director Brij Mohan. A large number of writers, music lovers and prominent citizens enjoyed the soul lifting experience of listening to Sufiyana singing by gifted and talented singers, Dharmesh Nargotra, Vishal Gupta, Sargam Pant, Indu Bala and K M. Astha.
Devender Singh Rana, while complimenting Dogri Sanstha, the singers and musicians for having come up with this unique programme, exhorted the Dogri writers and other activists in the field of literature and culture to make all-out efforts to popularize Dogri among masses through more such programmes.
Earlier Prof. Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, in his welcome address, said that Dogri Sanstha is making all efforts for the wholesome growth of Dogri language and literature and this programme is one such effort, which highlighted the fact that Dogri poetry has a treasure of various shades and styles of creativity.
Prominent among those present in the function include Prof. Nilamber Dev Sharma, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, Secretary , Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Balwant Thakur, Jitender Udhampuri , Prof. Shashi Pathania, Chhatrapal, Gianeshwar, Virender Kesar and others. The programme was conducted by Raj Kumar Behrupia.
