JAMMU, Jan 11: Dogri Sanstha, Jammu today released its Dogri Calendar for the year 2026.
The calendar includes important national and regional holidays, religious and cultural festivals, and significant days connected with Dogri language and heritage.
Like earlier, this year’s calendar has also been specially dedicated to the memory of eminent Dogri writers who made outstanding contributions to Dogri literature. Photographs of the late litterateurs, including Joginder Pal ‘Chhatrapal’, Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, Gyaneshwar, Dr Ashok Jerath, Ashwani Magotra and Virender Kesar have been respectfully included in the calendar.
The calendar was formally released by the office bearers of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu at Dogri Sanstha, Karan Nagar, Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, said that the calendar is not merely a record of dates but a reflection of Dogri culture and history. He said that by placing the photographs of departed literary stalwarts in the calendar, the Sanstha wants people, especially the younger generation, to remember their faces and their contributions, as their writings laid a strong foundation for Dogri literature.
On this occasion, Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, said that the calendar is part of the continuous efforts of the Sanstha to keep Dogri alive in everyday life. He further added that language survives not only in books and seminars but in homes, conversations and emotions, and therefore such publications play a vital role in connecting people emotionally with their mother tongue.
The calendar has been attractively designed by Pawan Verma, Secretary, Dogri Sanstha Jammu. The office bearers of Dogri Sanstha appealed to educational institutions, cultural organisations and the general public to use and promote this calendar so that Dogri language and culture continue to grow and remain alive in homes and hearts.
