JAMMU, Dec 4: Expressing its satisfaction on the nomination of Dr Champa Sharma as a member of Central Committee of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dogri Sanstha Jammu has called off its agitation.
Decision in this regard was taken during an emergency meeting of executive committee of Dogri Sanstha, held here today, under the chairmanship of its president Chhatrapal, who said that it was most unfortunate that the writers and intellectual had to threaten agitation to secure legitimate and natural rights in the present dispensation. “This was the bare minimum that the authorities of JKAACL could do to undo the injustice to the second largest spoken language of the state,” he added.
Pertinent to mention that Dogri Sanstha had earlier announced to boycott JKAACL and stage a dharna on December 6 at Abhinav Theatre in protest against the discrimination meted out to Dogri by denying representation in Central Committee.
