JAMMU, Apr 1 : Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with Duggar Lok Manch, organized a Dogri folk music programme this evening here at Paloura.
The artistes who regaled the audience included Praduman Singh Jandrahia, Kumari Krishna, Bishan Das and young new rising star Sunali Dogra. Shamsher Mohd and Iqrar Mohd, talented sons of late veteran Dogri folk singer, Ghulam Mohd, also performed. The audience repeatedly cheered all the artistes.
Rakesh Anand also played some breathtaking notes while accompanying the singers. Bishan Das and Asha Kesar, had a rustic and down-to-earth quality of Dogri folk which had the fragrance of Dogra land. Joginder Pal did full justice to the music, while accompanying the signers on tabla.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha, laid stress on the importance of music in popularizing Dogri among masses and emphasized that the folk music keeps us connected not only to our mother tongue but also to our traditions and culture.
Prof. Veena Gupta, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha conducted the programme.
