Dogri drama book release function marked by play enactment

JAMMU, Mar 3: In a fine example of drama script’s journey from the realm of literature to stage, Rattan Doshi’s latest anthology of Dogri short plays which was released at the K L Saigal Hall, here today, successfully passed the test as one of the play in the book staged on the occasion won appreciation of the audience.
Organized by theatre group Natshala, the highlight of today’s function was impressive enactment of ‘Kamal Hoi Gya’, a play from the anthology, by senior actors of the winter capital including Janak Khajuria and Madan Rangeela. Ajay Bawa and Barkha also acted in the play.
Eminent Dogri scholar Prof Veena Gupta, who presided over the function, in her address said that Rattan Doshi’s book titled as ‘Kaatal’, contains eleven plays, where each play while highlighting a day to day socio-cultural issue, ends with a message for the readers as well as audience.
Prof Lalit Magotra, Convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and the chief guest, said that Rattan Doshi as a Dogri writer has a done a yeoman service to the cause of play writing in Dogri.
Arvinder Singh Aman, Additional Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, and the guest of honour, said that there is dearth of new scripts in Dogri as out of fourteen plays being staged in the Annual Theatre
Festival starting tomorrow, only four Dogri plays are being staged. In this reference Doshi’s book of plays will certainly a welcome addition.
Janak Khajuria, president of Natshala also spoke on the occasion. Sandeshveer, senior actor, and vice president, DAADA (Doordarshan Approved Artists Association), conducted the proceeding of the function which was attended by eminent writers, poets and actors.
