JAMMU, Dec 21: The activists of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of their President, Ashok Gupta here today staged a protest demonstration against Article 35A calling it as ‘Kala Kanoon’ (black law).
The protesters demanded removal of Article 35A under President Rule and demanded a regional council for Jammu.
Addressing the protesters, Gupta said, this is the appropriate time to remove the said Article as the State is under President’s Rule and “the so called Article 35-A which is nothing more than a leech for the people of the State shall be removed.”
He further demanded that a regional council should be declared for Jammu as over the past six decades Jammu has been discriminated to favour Kashmir and the youth of Jammu have been reeling under unemployment, minimised health care, zero development of tourism spots and education sector.
“Jammu should get a regional council on the grounds of Ladakh Hill Development Council,” he said.
Gupta also said that Article 35A was not added to the Constitution by following the procedure prescribed for amendment of the Constitution of India under Article 368.
The protesters included Bantu, Geeta, Raj Kumari, Debo, Krishna, Ankush, Pawan, Rahul, Kalu, Abhishek and others.
