JAMMU, June 24: To lodge protest against hours long power cuts and irregular supply of drinking water in Jammu areas, Dogra Front and Shiv Sena activists took out a march in the city.
Shouting slogans against the Government, PDD and PHE authorities, the procession took off from Parade Ground and culminated near the City Chowk. Participants of the march were carrying lanterns, earthen pitchers and hand fans to signify the non-availability of power and water.
The protest march was led by Ashok Gupta who warned that the people would not pay the power tariff if electricity supply is not improved in the metered areas. He appealed the Prime Minister to handover all the NHPC Hydro electric projects in J&K to the State for improving the power scenario here. He also demanded setting up of another Receiving Station of 50 MVA at Janipur to tide over the power crisis in Jammu West Constituency.
