BARI BRAHMANA, Dec 6: Dogra Degree College organized two- day workshop on `Financial Education’ in collaboration with SEBI Jammu for the students of Commerce Department in the college auditorium.
Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College informed that the purpose of this event was to provide firsthand experience on how to manage ones finances wisely so that one could become good financial manager in future.
The resource person for the day was Anil Sharma, Expert Trainer, Assistant General Manager & Office Incharge SEBI Jammu. The workshop on financial education was organized as a part of NISM initiative of spreading investor awareness and promoting financial literacy. The attendees of the workshop will be certified as a part of financial education certification for young citizen programme `Kona Kona Shiksha’- a Kotak Securities CSR initiative.
The broad objective of the workshop was to impart among young investors money skills and inculcate financial discipline in their day to day life and thus empowering the youth.
In the two day workshop, the resource person deliberated on Importance of Investment, Financial Investment Opportunities, Process & Pre- requisites to invest in Securities Markets, Investment in Primary Markets, Investing in Secondary Markets, Introduction to Mutual funds and ways to invest in them, Precautions while investing in Securities Markets & Career in Securities Markets.
Students showed great enthusiasm and actively participated in the events of the workshop. They learnt the prerequisites for effective financial management. It was a fruitful knowledge sharing experience. The learners were able to develop the ability to understand how money works, how someone makes, manages and invests it, and also expends it (especially when one donates to charity) to help others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Educational Trust, emphasized on the holistic development of students and lauded the efforts of Anil Sharma and Dogra Degree College staff for successfully conducting the workshop.
The two day workshop was hosted by Shivani Kashyap and Shruti Slathia. The function finally concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Swati Mahajan, Lecturer in Commerce, Dogra Degree College.
