Srinagar, Mar 5: The aggrieved dental doctors today demanded the recruitment for the Registrar’s posts in the Dental Colleges in Kashmir as well as Jammu, noting that a number of posts are already lying vacant.
In this regard, the concerned doctors have submitted a written representation to the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department, seeking resolution of the matter. They also referred to a committee which was constituted to frame new recruitment rules for tenured positions.
“Numerous Registrar posts in Govt. Dental Colleges are lying vacant and some are about to become vacant within a short time… the administrative department held a meeting on Sept 11, 2023 in which it was decided to stop all the recruitments of Registrars as they are finalizing new rules and regulations. The rules are yet to be framed and numerous vacancies are still vacant,” reads the representation submitted in this regard.
The aspirants said that during a meeting held in September, it was decided to put on hold fresh recruitment for the tenure-based posts, and a committee was formed to establish new rules.
They said that directives were issued to all Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges across J&K; however, they noted that the Medical Colleges are carrying out the recruitment for the Registrar posts, except for Dental Colleges.
“Since September, the committee has not come up with anything, and the Dental Colleges are not carrying out the recruitment, in contrast to the Medical Colleges which are hiring for the posts in various disciplines,” one of the aggrieved aspirants said.
Also, in a communication issued by the H&ME to the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges in October last year, they were asked to go ahead with the selection against tenured posts of Senior Residents/ Tutors already advertised or where selections have been finalized, in terms of Government Order No. 282-JK(HME) of 2023 dated April 4, 2023.
“Further, all future vacancies shall be filled on the basis of a written test, the procedure for which shall be communicated separately,” the communication noted.
The aspirants, in the representation, demanded to keep the selection criteria mentioned in the order said so that there is no further academic loss to the students who are eagerly waiting for the advertisement of posts of registrars.
