Doctors & paramedical staff directed to wear aprons, name plates

JAMMU, July 26: Health and Medical Education Department has directed all doctors and paramedical staff, working in Government healthcare institutions across Jammu and Kashmir to wear aprons and name plates during the working hours.
A circular has been issued in this regard, according to which wearing of aprons and name plates by the Doctors and Paramedical staff in mandatory.
“All doctors, including those engaged under NHM and AYUSH, as well as all paramedical staff working in Government healthcare institutions across the Union Territory of J&K are directed to wear proper white aprons and wear legible name plates displaying their full name and designation at all times while on duty,” reads the circular.
All Heads of Institutions, Medical Superintendents and Chief Medical Officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance of these instructions in their respective institutions.
According to the circular, it has been observed that doctors and paramedical staff in various Government healthcare institutions are not strictly adhering to the prescribed norms regarding the wearing of aprons and displaying of nameplates during duty hours and such non-compliance is causing inconvenience to patients in identifying healthcare personnel.
