Srinagar Apr 5: The Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) will not prescribe drugs procured by the Department of Health for the Government hospitals in the State after a drug that was supplied to the hospitals across the State tested negative for its salt.
President of the DAK, Dr Nisarul Hassan told a press conference here today that doctors will not prescribe the hospital supply drugs to patients as it mars their credibility and puts the lives of patients at risk.
Over two lakh tablets were distributed to the hospitals across the State out of which one lakh tablets have already been consumed by the patients who were treated in Government hospitals.
Dr Nisar demanded that the Central Purchase Committee that has approved the anti-biotic drug should be sacked and an FIR be registered against them for approving the drug. He said that the former Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma should step down and FIR be registered against him.
The DAK president said that the DAK was against the drug policy of the State in present form.
