Doctors’ body aghast at alleged thrashing of hospital staff

Srinagar, Aug 13: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today condemned in strong words alleged thrashing of hospital staff at Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara.
Expressing outrage, the DAK president, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said that this act of hooliganism against medical staff while discharging their duties is unacceptable. “It is intolerable that hospital staff has been beaten on several occasions in past few week”, he added.
The DAK president said medical personnel put in their blood and sweat to save patients in extremely difficult conditions and they instead of appreciation get thrashing. “This mad pattern of atrocities against medical staff has become a new norm. Hospitals are shelled, medical personnel are thrashed and ambulances are vandalized,” he said.
The DAK president said that this has created a fear psychosis among health care providers who feel insecure and unsafe under these hostile conditions. “It is ironical that protectors of citizens have turned into goons. They instead of upholding law are breaking and abusing it. They have gone rowdy and they believe that whatever they do no action will be taken against them,” added Dr Nisar.
