JAMMU, June 1: Doctors from Jammu region today held black band protest against Baba Ramdev for his comments against modern medicine and sought stringent action against him.
Without affecting their routine work, doctors in all the Government health institutions across Jammu province including Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), District Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres staged silent protest under the aegis of Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) while tying black band in their arms.
They said that the comments by Baba Ramdev against modern medicine and its practitioners have hurt entire medical fraternity of this country. “The statement of Baba Ramdev at a time when frontline health care workers are waging a war against an invisible enemy is irresponsible and highly condemnable,” they said and demanded the Government to register FIR against Ramdev and arrest him.
The DAJ president Dr Balvinder Singh said that ever since WHO declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, frontline health care workers took up the challenge of meeting this killer invisible enemy head on, without caring for their own safety or of their family but issuing such vitriolic & hateful statements against frontline health workers mocks them and their sacrifice.
“Thousands of frontline health workers have perished in this pandemic but instead of showing gratitude towards them, Ramdev was seen mocking them in the shallowest perverse manner,” he added. He appealed the Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to take up the matter with the Central Government and press it for taking against Baba Ramdev for his intolerable comments.
