Srinagar, Apr 29: Medical Superintendent of Unani Hospital Shalteng in Srinagar was arrested by police on the charges of rape in Ajas area of Bandipora district of North Kashmir and has been sent to 7 days police remand.
According to police, the BUMS medico, Dr Javid Ahmad, son of Habibullah, resident of Khanpora Bala in Baramulla district who is In-charge Medical Superintendent of Unani Hospital Shalteng had gone to house of a man (name withheld) in Ajas area last week and allegedly raped his wife (name withheld).
A complaint was registered in Police Station Sumbal in district Bandipora and a case under FIR number 62/2016 under Sections 376 and 342 was registered against him. The accused doctor was arrested shortly and is currently in custody of Police Station Sumbal.
The medico was present before the court in Sumbal and he has been sent to 7 days police remand. The ISM department has not taken any action against the MS so far.
Deputy Director, ISM, Dr Ashiq Hussain, when asked about the arrest of Dr Javed expressed his ignorance. He said that he had applied for 4 days causal leave on April 24. “Yesterday he called me and said that he is in Delhi”, said Dr Ashiq.
