Doctor arrested, ambulance seized from GMC premises

JAMMU, June 16: Police today arrested a doctor and seized Critical Care Ambulance which was operating from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and had nexus with private operators for fleecing patients by minting money from them illegally.
The district Jammu Police had asked the GMC Police Post to keep strict surveillance on ambulances operating illegally from the GMC Jammu. In the process, Incharge GMC Police Post along with two Selection Grade Constables Sohan Lal and Harjeet Singh found one person roaming mysteriously in the GMC Jammu premises and detained him for questioning.
He disclosed his identity as Dr Nixon Burat son of Samuel Burat, a resident of Christian Colony in Prem Nagar Jammu, presently putting up at Kailash Nagar in Talab Tillo.
He disclosed that he had done his MBBS from Tajakhistan but didn’t appear in the Medical Council of India’s mandatory test for recognition of his MBBS degree in India.
The doctor disclosed that he had worked as doctor with other ambulance service operators including Dubey Charitable Trust, Kohli Critical Care Ambulances and Godavari Charitable Trust Ambulance Services operated by Dr Kunal presently working in JK Medicity.
He introduced himself as doctor on call for Critical Care Ambulance bearing No. 4466 JK02BJ.
“The individual has acted in connivance with the ambulance operator/owners,’’ police said.
He has been booked under Sections 419/420 IPC and FIR No. 92/2021 at Bakshi Nagar Police Station.
