JAMMU, June 1: A delegation of Durga Nagar Welfare Coordination Committee (DNWCC) comprising Sanjay Ganjoo, Behari Lal Raina, C. L. Dhar, Ravinder Bhat, Chand Ji Ambardar, Jawahar Lal Raina, Kaka Ji, and Vesh Nath held a meeting with the AEE (Civil), JE (Civil), JE (Mechanical), and other officers of the PHE Department at their office in Muthi.
The main focus of the meeting was the acute drinking water crisis being faced by the residents of Durga Nagar and adjoining areas. The officers were apprised of the seriousness of the issue and the hardships being faced by the public due to irregular and inadequate water supply.
During the discussions, it emerged that the primary reason for the delay and disruption in the uplifting of water from the Muthi Pumping Station is the frequent interruption of electricity supply to the MU-9 Feeder, which feeds the pumping station. It was pointed out that the absence of a dedicated feeder for the pumping station results in recurring power outages, adversely affecting water supply to the area.
The AEE, PHE (Civil), was requested to take up the matter with the PDD authorities to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the pumping station so that regular water supply can be maintained.
The delegation also raised the long-pending demand for dedicated water pumping motors for Durga Nagar. The Mechanical Division was requested to expedite the floating of tenders, especially since a portion of the required funds has already been sanctioned for the project.
