NEW DELHI, Jan 30:
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today visited the residence of Col M N Rai, a commanding officer who died in a gun battle with terrorists in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on January 27, and assured all help to the family.
Parrikar visited the family in the evening at Cariappa Vihar residence in Delhi Cantt and condoled the death of the officer, official sources said here.
He told the wife and the three children that the officer was brave and had shown an exemplary courage in fighting the terrorist.
Parrikar also assured the family of full support from the Army, the Defence Ministry and himself, they said.
39-year-old Rai lost his life fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral area on January 27, just a day after being awarded Yudh Seva Medal. (PTI)
