DM inspects District Jail

RAJOURI, Oct 9: District Magistrate, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today inspected District Jail at Dhangri and reviewed the facilities being provided to the inmates.
The DM accompanied by Shrikant Suse AC, Superintendent R.H. Khatana and other officers visited all the barracks and interacted with the inmates to take stock of their issues.
The DM also inspected the medical centre, vocational section, library, kitchen, meeting area and other sections of the jail and reviewed the facilities there.
It was decided that District Administration will open a Skill Development Centre at District Jail for training inmates in various trades besides providing market linkages for products to be produced by them.
A dedicated special centre will also be established for women inmates which will be linked with Social Welfare Department for marketing and livelihood measures. It was further decided that computer lab and other facilities demanded by jail management will be provided by district administration for welfare of inmates. Besides, a medical camp will be organised for inmates by the Health Department.
Issues related to provision of bore-well, power supply and other demands were also discussed during the interaction which will be taken up by the administration for redressal.
A nodal officer appointed by district administration will coordinate for grievance redressal of inmates, skill development, legal aid, livelihood support and other issues.
Earlier,   the Deputy Commissioner visited the District Court Complex and met the Bar Association to review the facilities nin the premises.
It was decided that District Administration will provide 12 chambers for Bar Association, a multipurpose hall and library room.
The DDC directed Engineers for immediate formulation of estimates and initiation of project for fast-track completion . He also reviewed the construction work of Court road and bottlenecks faced by executing agency.
