NEW DELHI, Nov 29:
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir after an Army camp at Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu city was targeted by terrorists today.
Parrikar ascertained the details of the attack from Army chief General Dalbir Singh, before meeting the Prime Minister to apprise him about the situation, sources in the Defence Ministry said.
Two terrorists have been neutralised in the fierce gunbattle, which ensued after the attack.
Two Army jawans were killed and four others injured in the encounter. This was the third terrorist attack on military installations this year after the Pathankot airbase of the IAF and an Army camp based at Uri near the Line of control.
A committee, headed by former Vice Chief of the Army, was formed to look into the security aspects of the military bases, which had submitted its report to the Government. (UNI)
