GANDERBAL, Apr 29: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Gazzanfar Hussian along with Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz Bhat and a team of officers conducted an extensive tour of district Ganderbal today and took stock of the current situation prevailing in the district after recent incessant rains.
Div Com visited the areas affected by the breach of Beehama power canal and gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers for speedy repairs of the embankments of the canal. He also inspected the Rangil water treatment plant to check its working. He instructed the concerned authorities to explore alternate possibilities to enhance the performance of the plant. He also instructed Chief Engineer PHE to have an alternate arrangement by way of laying of HPP pipes on permanent basis.
He visited BR reservoir which supplies water to Beehama canal and took on spot inspection of its gates. He inspected whole power canal and instructed concerned authorities to reinforce the embankment and clear silt and debris from the canal.
Div Com also reviewed the work being done on Ganderbal- Sonamarg road and directed Beacon authorities to expedite the widening of the road and complete it before the start of Amaranth Yatra.
During his inspection, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir stressed upon the concerned officers to expedite the pace of developmental works taken under different schemes in the district. He also directed the concerned authorities to remove all kinds of encroachments along with muck and silt in the irrigation canals of the district.
Among others DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer PHE, Chief Engineer CMD, SE Hydraulic, ADC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, Executive engineers of different engineering wings and ASP Ganderbal were present on the occasion.
