Samba, Nov 20: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, today conducted tour of border areas of Kathua and Samba districts.
He visited various villages of District Kathua ‘viz’ Londi, Sherpur, Bobia etc. and Villages Sarthi Kalan, Khurd, Chilyari, Mawa etc. of District Samba and interacted with the inhabitants of these villages to know their problems and measures to be taken for redressal of their grievances.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Kathua- Shahid Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner, Samba – Mubarak Singh, Director – Social Welfare, Director – Sheep Husbandry Department, officers from Health Department and other senior officers of various sectors.
A large number of people met Shantmanu and projected demands and problems pertaining to improvement of roads, drinking water, power supply, payment of compensation of land falling across the fencing, special recruitment of youth of border villages, reservation in services and admission in professional colleges on the analogy of people living in the Actual Line of Control.
In all the villages people also stressed for the demand of allotment of 5-10 Marlas of land in the safer zones for shelter in the event of firing from Pak.
Shantmanu apprised the people that all the issues are under active consideration and assured that needs of the infrastructure and other issues will be addressed.
He also visited the family which had lost three precious lives due to shelling across the border at Village Chilayari and asked Deputy Commissioner, Samba to extend all possible assistance to the family in addition to the ex-gratia relief which has already provided to the NOKs of deceased persons.
He also met Sarpanchs/ Panchs and prominent persons during the visit and while appreciating their role in extending necessary help urged them to provide helping hand to administration and to the affected families.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba – Inderjeet, Executive Engineers, PHE/PWD, besides the District/ Sectoral officers of various departments.
