JAMMU, Jan 9: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal convened a high level meeting to review the arrangements for 67th Republic Day celebrations here today.
Divisional Commissioner took a comprehensive review of arrangements being made and stressed on better synergy between the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the National event.
He was apprised about the security, traffic management plan and parking arrangements and the concerned officers were directed to put in place requisite arrangements for security and hassle free traffic movement so that general public could reach the venue conveniently.
He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation/cleanliness of the venue besides establishment of sufficient number of mobile toilets. Youth Services and Sports Department was directed to ensure proper transportation and logistic facilities for the participating contingents including school children. Commissioner JMC Mandeep Kour informed the Divisional Commissioner that all necessary steps are being undertaken to uplift the venue. She also appealed for making the Republic Day polythene free.
Directions were also given to the concerned officers from PHE and PDD Departments to ensure availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply.
Health and Fire Services were directed to keep sufficient number of Ambulances with adequate facilities and Fire Tenders at the venue. PDD, Tourism, JMC, JDA, Police, Hospitality and Protocol, Fire and Emergency Services departments were asked to ensure illumination of government buildings.
SRTC and State Motor Garages were asked to provide sufficient number of vehicles for transportation of school children and officials.
Div Com directed All India Radio and Director Doordarshan Jammu to finalize cultural programmes for relaying from Radio and electronic media. He also stressed upon improving the coverage of the Republic Day parade by installing additional cameras and providing panoramic view of the parade.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the ongoing renovation works in MAM stadium and Government Science College and directed the concerned line departments to complete the works in time. He reviewed parking arrangements and various other safety aspects and stressed on providing hassle free access to the visitors to the venue without compromising fool proof security arrangements.
During his visit to the Science College, Dr Kotwal interacted with the NCC Cadets from the college; gave them a word of encouragement and wished them well for their future. IGP Danish Rana also asked the NCC cadets to incorporate the training and discipline in their personal lives and set an example so people look up to them.
