Div Com reviews preparations for Ladakh Festival

LEH, Aug 28: Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas chaired a meeting to review the preparation of Ladakh Festival to be held in Leh district from the September 1 to 4.
The four day gala event will have various attractions and interesting events for the tourists and the locals alike. It will showcase the culture and traditions of various regions of Leh district by various means such as cultural processions, music concerts, exhibitions of architecture and paintings; photo exhibitions of wildlife; various talks and film screenings etc.
All events will be organised at places of tourist interest around Leh town. There will be archery competition and polo matches also. Special food exhibitions to showcase authentic Ladakhi cuisine and also exhibitions of handicrafts and handlooms of Ladakh will be among the main attractions. Participants will be engaged from various villages of Leh to bring their unique Ladakhi cuisine at the food stalls of the festival.
Biswas took a threadbare review of each and every event of the festival and directed for adequate publicity of the festival by every media. It was decided that various exhibitions will be organised in the newly prepared Tsi-shu Lamo Art Gallery in Leh town situated at the Tourist Reception Centre, Leh. Photo exhibitions will be organised both in the newly developed Tse-shu Lamo art gallery as well as the open market of Leh town.
Various committees were also formed to look into the successful execution of each and every event.
Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar while giving the details of the preparation ensured that all tourists will be received well in every event of the Ladakh Festival and every effort shall be made by the District Administration to make the festival a grand success.
The meeting was also attended by SE PWD Leh Pradeep Kumar, CEO LDA Leh Dr Zahida Bano, CMO Leh Dr Motup Dorjey, CHO Leh Tsewang Phuntsog, CAO Leh Tashi Tsetan, Xen PDD Rinchen Angmo, Xen R&B Division Tsering Angchuk, Executive Officer Leh Razdan, Special Officer for Culture, J&K Cultural Academy Tsewang Paljor, AD Tourism Tsering Dolker, AD Handicraft Leh Sonam Gyurmet, Superintendent Handloom Leh Rinchen Namgyal, DRC Leh and AD Information Leh.
