Div Com reviews Eid-ul-Azha arrangements

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal has directed the officers of different departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated with fervour across the Valley and people do not face any inconvenience.
The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a high level meeting convened to discuss the arrangements being put in place for the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha. It was attended by Director Information, Tasaduq Jelani, Director, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Chief Engineers of R&B, PDD, PHE, SSP, Srinagar, RTO Kashmir and other senior officers of police and different departments like CAPD, LAWDA, etc.
He asked the officers to ensure that the people get adequate supply of essentials like food grains, sugar, k.oil, petrol besides other allied things. He said that special market checking squads should be constituted so that the hoarding and black marketing can be checked and consumers get the required items without facing any inconvenience at notified rates.
Mr. Kansal also directed the officers of PDD to ensure that the people get requisite supply of electricity and also speed up the restoration work of the areas which have been facing shortage due to the recent floods. He also asked the Chief Engineer, PHE to provide uninterrupted supply of potable drinking water to the people.
He directed Chief Engineer, R&B to carry out the restoration work of the roads damaged due to the recent floods so that connectivity of various areas of the Kashmir division is ensured. He said that the work should be undertaken on war footing so that the people living in different areas do not face any hardship.
Mr. Kansal also directed the Director, Animal and Sheep Husbandry to ensure that the people get adequate supply of the sacrificial animals and in this regard regular checks should be conducted to check the availability of the same. He also asked the officers of Health Department to setup medical camps at different places enroute various shrines and also Eidgahs.
The Div Com also asked the officers of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure general cleanliness and sanitation in the division especially around the various shrines where Eid congregations would be held. He also directed them to ensure street lights are functional as well.
Mr. Kansal also directed the officers of the police to ensure elaborate security measures in and around places where Eid prayers would be held and also ensure that the traffic movement to different places is regulated besides notifying the parking places.
