UDHAMPUR, Sept 18: To assess the damage caused to private and public property in the backdrop of recent rains and flash floods in the district, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Shantmanu accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Mr Rajesh Kumar and District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Mrs. Yasha Mudgal today conducted an extensive tour of flood affected and landslides area of Udhampur district including Saddal, Panjar, lower Meer and Panchari etc to monitor the situation that has arisen after incessant rainfall in the district.
During the tour, Div Com expressed sympathies with the people of the area who have lost their family members and said that the administration stands with them in this hour of grief and sorrow and assured all possible help from the administration side.
The Div Com directed the DDC and the concerned officers to gear up the pace of relief and restoration works in the area so that affected families will not suffer more and will recoup from the floods soon.
The Divisional Commissioner interacted with affected families saying the government and administration would take all necessary measures to help the people.
Later, during the tour, the Div Com distributed relief material which included 60 water proof tents, etc among the affected families during recent flash floods and landslides in the district.
Earlier, the DDC apprised him about the relief, rescue and restoration works in these areas.
Among others, DIG Police Udhampur- Reasi Range Garib Dass, SSP Udhampur Suleman Chowdary, ASP Mr Khalil Poswal, senior officers of various departments, Tehsildar Panchari & Mongri , officials of Revenue Department and BDO were also present on the occasion.
