Div Com inspects full stretch of Jammu Ring Road along with DCs

JAMMU, Dec 9: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today conducted an extensive tour of the entire stretch 0 to 46 KM of 58 KM long Ring Road Project and inspected the progress of work at various locations.
He was accompanied by, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta, Director Geology and Mining, O P Bhagat; Regional Officer NHAI, Rohin Gupta; Project Director NHAI, Yashpal Singh besides concerned Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, Engineering wing of National Highway Authority of India and other concerned officers.
During the tour, the Div Com visited several locations including, Raya Morh the starting point of the Ring Road, Sarore, Bishnah, Miran Sahib, Marh, Kanna Chak, Bhalwal and other locations and inquired about the progress of work there. The NHAI officials briefed the Div Com about the present status of work on the prestigious road project and also informed about future work plans. It was informed that work is in progress on various phases of the Ring Road Project.
It is pertinent to mention here that the 58.25 KM, 4-lane Ring Road starts from Raya Morh of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district and connects with Jagti on the Jammu Udhampur National Highway. The phase 1 of the project from Akhnoor Road to Kot Bhalwal has already been opened for traffic.
Meanwhile, the Div Com also interacted with locals at various locations and listened to their issues related to pending land compensation. He also reviewed the progress of pending land acquisition and disbursement of compensation. It was informed that the land acquisition and disbursement of compensation amount has almost been completed.
Villagers at Maralian requested the Div Com during the field tour to direct NHAI for providing adequate cross drainage, and accordingly instructions were issued to the concerned on the spot.
It was informed that almost 90 percent work on the stretch of 0 to 10 KM has been completed while work on various other stretches are also nearing completion.
The Div Com directed the NHAI officers to expedite the pace of work for early completion of the road stretch from Km. -0+687 to Km. 10+000 which connects Raya Morh, Sarore, Bishnah and Kunjwani so that it could be thrown open for general public at the earliest. He also set targets for completing the various stretches of the Ring Road Project. He further asked the concerned officers to engage more men and machinery to speed up the work progress.
Dr Langer also instructed the Director Geology and Mining Department to expedite the permission cases pending for minor mineral blocks to provide adequate construction material to the executing agencies for hassle free execution of work. He also asked them to identify additional minor mineral blocks in these areas.
Meanwhile, Director Geology Mining gave assurance to the Div Com to process all pending applications of NHAI for grant of STPs on top priority.
First 46 kms of Jammu Ring Road, from Raya Morh to Bhalwal crossing is expected to be available for hassle free movement by end March, 2022.
