JAMMU, Dec 23: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal finalized the arrangements for the celebration of Prakash Utsav (Birthday of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji 10th Guru) and Nagar Kirtan in connection with Gurupurab on January 5, 2016 in a meeting convened here today.
DIG Jammu Kathua Range Ashkoor Wani, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, Additional Commissioner Jammu Rehana Batul, Director Health Dr. B. S. Pathania, Joint Director Information Jammu Nagendra Singh Jamwal, ACG Shehnaz Choudhary, other senior officers of police and civil administration besides representatives of various Sikh organizations were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner was apprised regarding preparations made by the concerned departments and Sikh religious organizations for the Nagar Kirtan, programmes to be held at the Gurudwaras and the main function which will be organized at Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar Jammu from 10 am to 4 pm.
It was informed in the meeting that celebrations will start from December 28 with Parbhat Pheri’s (morning Gurbani reciting procession) and the Nagar Kirtan would be taken out on January 2, 2016 from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar, Jammu at 10 am and passing through different bazaars will culminate at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Nanak Nagar at around 5 pm.
Divisional Commissioner asked the Police authorities to ensure adequate security arrangements and traffic management for smooth flow of traffic on the procession routes. Health Department has been directed to ensure adequate provision of medicare facilities and provide an ambulance with first aid medicines and doctor during Nagar Kirtan and at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar on Gurupurab.
Jammu Municipal Corporation was directed to provide mobile toilet vans, dust bins and sanitation of the procession route. PHE and PDD would ensure adequate supply of drinking water and uninterrupted power supply during the day.
Divisional Commissioner stressed on maintaining coordination for smooth conduct of the festival. He urged the religious organizations to coordinate with the administration so as to celebrate the festival with traditional fervour and zeal.
