Div Com declares KV-I as LED School

Jammu, Oct 15: Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu & Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC), Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, declared the Vidyalaya as LED School today during a ceremony conducted at the Vidyalaya campus. He declared that Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Jammu has become the first one in the State to be equipped with LED light system under the programme ‘Save Energy Save Money’.
The idea of project to turn Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu to a LED School was initially floated by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, during a meeting of the Vidyalaya Principal T R Choudhary with him.  The project was taken care of accordingly in the coming days by the Vidyalaya authorities.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal inaugurated the programme by switching on the LED lights in the reception area of the Vidyalaya. He had a round of campus as well as class rooms and interacted with the students. Earlier, Dr. Kotwal was given a warm reception by scouts & guides with colour party.  T R Choudhary the venue Principal presented a welcome address. Children from Primary Wing presented Welcome and Patriotic songs during this ceremony.
In his address Dr. Kotwal said that Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Jammu has become perhaps the first LED School in J&K State, to opt for this project. He said the implementation will decrease the burden of the electric bill and save power as well creating a carbon free environment. He added that the programme Save Energy Save Money needs to be promoted in the general public. He said that solar energy projects need to be developed in remote areas and the work is being undertaken in those areas. He emphasized that the State Board of School Education should also promote this programme and wished that state schools should also come forward to get benefit out of these projects.
A VMC meeting was also conducted Principal of the Vidyalaya presented the details of the activities and projects undertaken by the Vidyalaya after the conduct of the last meeting of VMC.
