POONCH, July 19: The District Poonch Taekwondo Championship 2025-26 began today with great enthusiasm at Poonch Taekwondo Club Hall, near Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital. Organized under the banner of the Taekwondo Association of Jammu and Kashmir, affiliated with India Taekwondo and recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the event saw participation from over 130 young athletes, both boys and girls, representing various schools, clubs, and institutions from across the district.
The chief guest was Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach, Department of Youth Services and Sports, and the founder of Taekwondo in Poonch. He extended his best wishes to the participants and applauded the efforts of the Taekwondo Association of J&K and the District Poonch Taekwondo Association for promoting martial arts among local youth.
Technical supervision is being provided by Toseef Tahir (National Referee), Akarshit Sudan, Hassan and Ikmanpal Singh, ensuring fair and professional matches.
The Association extended special thanks to the Chief Medical Officer, Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital, for deputing a medical team. Winners of the event will represent Poonch at the J&K UT-level Taekwondo Championship in Jammu this August.
