District Capex Plan to be finalized by Mar 12: Col Mahan

KATHUA, Mar 4: Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kathua, Col Mahan Singh (Retd) today chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing developmental works besides the status of the new District Capex Plan-2022 being formulated presently.
The meeting was attended by the DDC Vice Chairman, nine out of twelve Councilors, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua besides all the District Departmental Heads and Sectoral officers.
After deliberating and discussing various issues at length, several important decisions were taken in the meeting. The meeting unanimously decided to finalize the New District Capex Plan by 12th March 2022. It also passed a unanimous resolution on certain urgent issues to be submitted to the Government at the earliest. According to the resolution the seven members District Biodiversity Committee constituted shall be headed by Col Mahan Singh as its de facto Chairman. The resolution urges the Government to declare Kathua-Balasundri-Billawar-Derigala and Bani-Fatepur Bhandar-Salooni (H.P) as National Highway.
The District Biodiversity Committee constituted during the meeting comprises of seven members including Col Mahan Singh (Retd) as its Chairman. The other five members are Raghunandan Singh Bablu, Dr Shaveta Singh, Reeta Thakur, Narayan Dutt Tripathi and Karan Atri who all were unanimously appointed. Vivek Modi DFO Kathua has been nominated as Secretary of the Committee.
While addressing the meeting, the DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh (Retd) said that the District Development Council has to shoulder the responsibility of planning and executing the development projects that would be in the best interest of the local people focusing more on boosting the economy of such areas through these projects.
Asserting that the Capex Plan for FY 2022-23 must be inclusive to ensure equitable and sustainable development of rural areas across the district, DDC Chairman emphasized on proper conduct of Gram Sabhas at each Panchayat level and said that the plan must be discussed thoroughly before finalization.
