ANANTNAG, July 4: The District Advisory Committee on Youth Programme for district Anantnag met under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Saugat Biswas here today. Both core program and coordination program of the Nehru Yuva Kendra of district Anantnag were placed before the committee for approval.
In the proposed plan, the Youth Club Development Programme, Training on Youth Leadership & Community Development, one day Theme Based Awareness & Education Programme, Promotion of Sports among youth, skill up-gradation training programme for women (Long term & Short term), Promotion of Folk Art & Culture, Observance of Days of National & International Importance, District Youth Convention & Award to outstanding youth clubs at District Level were discussed threadbare & approved.
The DDC emphasized that the programmes be made innovative, outcome oriented, and should have a focus towards capacity building of the youth. It was decided that exposure and training shall be provided to the youth on local self government, entrepreneurship, and community development. While deliberating on One Day Theme Based Awareness & Education Programme, it was decided to delve in micro finance (working of self help groups) & cooperative movement among the participants. Biswas informed that the Nehru Yuva Kendra with the help of the District Administration shall rope in resource persons from apex bodies in J&K and expose the participating youth clubs to success stories in entrepreneurship, Panchayati Raj, cooperative movement and micro finance etc. through field visits.
A. A. Mir, District Youth Coordinator proposed for simplification of the verification of whereabouts of youth enrolled in youth clubs for the issue of non-involvement certificate. Biswas informed that the District Youth Coordinator will soon move a proposal for land transfer for the construction of Nehru Yuva Kendra Bhavan which will have multifarious facilities such as gymnasium, library, swimming pool, communication centre etc.
The meeting was attended by different departmental heads with representatives from youth clubs, NGO’s & National Youth Corps Scheme. The meeting was concluded with the instructions to District Youth Coordinator to establish a Youth movement in the real sense.
