Discrimination with J&K Armed Police personnel in promotion

JAMMU, Feb 22: The J&K Armed Police/IRP personnel are being discriminated in promotion by the Government.
This was alleged by some personnel of J&K Armed police/IRP. They stated that J&K Armed Police is an essential component of J&K Police consisting of 25 IRP Battalions and 11 Armed battalions.
They said in the year 2018, the J&K Government vide its Order Number 1392 Home of 2018 dated 06-10-2018, had enhanced the sanctioned strength of non-gazetted personnel and created 8531 posts in various categories in three phases by corresponding reduction of 8531 post of Constables.
“Unfortunately only 20 percent promotion quota was given to Armed/IRP Police and 80 percent to Executive Police due to which 1995 appointees in Executive Police has been promoted as Assistant Sub Inspectors while as in Armed Police/IRP, all 1985 appointees are still Head Constable (for last 18 to 20 years),” they said, adding same discrimination is being meted out to Senior Grade Constables and Head Constables.
They appealed LG Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter of stagnation of Armed Police personnel and pass directions to provide them promotion opportunities at par with Executive Police.
