JAMMU, May 5: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Masoodi and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today issued notice to the State for disclosing the action taken against the separatist leaders Masrat Alam and Asiya Andrabi for raising voice against India.
The notice was issued in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two practicing advocates namely Sanjay Verma and Deeraj Choudhary.
After hearing Senior Advocate S S Lehar along with Advocate Aditya Sharma, DB issued notice to the State which was waived by Deputy Advocate General P S Chandel and ASGI Sindhu Sharma. The State has been directed to inform court within a day about the action taken against separatist leaders till now.
During the course of hearing, Senior Advocate Lehar argued that in the rally organized by the separatist leaders around 150-200 people participated and raised slogans against India. “But news agencies have shown it as such whole of the State is against India”, he said, adding “such news items create law and order problems in the State and peace is vitiated”.
