JAMMU, Feb 5: The visiting Director, Watershed Management, Department of Land Resources, Union Ministry of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Sushil Kumar Daila today took an extensive tour of Dansal Block of Jammu and inspected works executed under IWMP.
He was accompanied by Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, IWMP, J&K, Project Manager, Jammu & field functionaries.
The Watershed Management Committee & PRIs of Nagola thanked the Department for the construction of water harvesting tanks & farm ponds in their Panchayat. The villagers told that the area experiences scarcity of water. The water is supplied by Jal Jeevan Mission tankers which is quite insufficient and the construction of a Water Harvesting Tank in the Panchayat has been helping the villagers by providing water for cattle besides, these structures help in raising fodder crops by the farmers.
Anil Sharma, Sarpanch, Panchayat Jandrah & Sher Ali, Panch of Nagola Panchayat also shared their views and requested the visiting Director to include more areas of Dansal Block under Pardhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna so that the economic profile of the locals can be improved who earn their livelihood by raising sheep, goat horse & mulching cattle.
Sushil Kumar Daila while speaking on the occasion assured the villages that their suggestions will be taken care of while sanctioning new projects. He asked CEO, JK IWMP to separately request the Education Department to raise standard of local Primary School to Middle level and boundary wall of the school.
