UDHAMPUR, Aug 3: Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd), Director Rajya Sainik Board J&K, briefed GOC-in-C, Northern Command Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, about the activities of RSB.
Director informed the Army Commander, who is the Vice President of RSB, J&K,
that during Apr 11, 2018, meeting of RSB, held at Raj Bhawan Jammu. Governor N N Vohra had given directions on various issues connected with welfare of ESM/Martyrs,
which are being pursued by the Director RSB with Home Department.
He informed that various issues of welfare related schemes were prioritized, as per their importance. Non pensioner widows below 65 yrs of age were getting an annual amount of Rs 12000 as penury grant, which has been increased to Rs 48000 from this year, he added.
Further, Home Deptt has processed cases for sanction of 12 posts of Welfare Organizers for Samba and Jammu while incentive for WWII Veterans has been increased from Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 per month.
Director RSB also informed Army Commander that in a record time, Home Deptt has processed cases for raising of four new ZSWOs at RS Pura, Akhnoor, Reasi and Kupwara. In addition, orders for raising of ZSWO at Kargil have also been issued by Home Deptt. The raising of these five ZSWOs will save lot of travelling time for the ESM & members of Martyrs families, staying in the vicinity of these new ZSWOs.
Director also briefed Army Commander on directions of Governor to imbibe programmes to increase interaction between Army, ESM and Citizens. Certain initiatives have been started by RSB in close coordination with Education Deptt and Academy of Arts and Culture, J&K. These programmes are part of the Flag Day Celebrations and include conduct of patriotic song & painting competition, visit to houses of martyrs and war heroes by school children, he informed and added that under a new initiative, citizens/NGOs were coming forward for adoption of martyrs’ families.
A Fauji Mela programme for the citizens at Jammu and preparing youth for recruitment by Services Selection Board are also in pipeline, informed Director RSB and requested Army Commander to extend necessary support of Army in organizing these events.
According to a handout, the Army Commander assured all the help in getting the schemes implemented and to help establish the newly raised ZSWOs.
