Director Agriculture reviews functioning of Field Officers

JAMMU, Oct 3: After taking over as Director of Agriculture Jammu, Ashok Kumar Malhotra today conducted the first review meeting of the Chief Agriculture Officers and Sectoral Heads of various schemes at Agriculture Complex, Talab Tillo, Jammu.
He reviewed progress of the activities undertaken during Kharif 2016 and the preparedness for supply and stocking of various inputs including seeds and fertilizers for the ensuing Rabi crop season to ensure timely stocking of seed. The progress of completion of DPRs on Rajmash, Basmati, Apiculture and Vegetable and other sectors announced by the Government in Doda, Kathua, Ramban, Kishtwar and Jammu districts was reviewed and the Director desired additional special projects for Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba also. There was also detailed discussion on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), and Soil Health Card Scheme.
Ashok Malhotra directed all the Chief Agriculture Officers to develop and maintain the data bank of KCC, Beekeepers, Mushroom Growers and Vegetable Farmers. He also asked the concerned officers to chalk out calendar for operationalizing Mobile Soil Testing Vans so as to achieve full targets of soil sampling and testing under Soil Health Card Scheme.
Director Agriculture said that mobility of the field/extension functionaries should be ensured for effective and timely implementation of the various ongoing farmers’ welfare schemes. He also directed them to give wide publicity to departmental programmes through print and electronic media in this regard. He revealed that he along with team of officers from the Directorate shall be making extensive field visits soon and desired to tone up the services at grass root level in all the districts.
