KATHUA, Feb 4: Govt High School Dinga Amb, one of the oldest schools in district Kathua having good strength of students is awaiting its up-gradation for the last about five decades.
The respective MLAs of the area during last 50 long years only gave false assurances of up-gradation to the people of the area but this school could not be upgraded till date. Many public representations from the area to the Legislators, Parliamentarians, Minister and the bureaucrats always went to the deaf ears.
Pardeep Sharma, a local resident said Dinga Amb now being district headquarter for the several years  and the strength of this High School is around 300. It was upgraded from Middle to High School level in 1965 and for the last 53 long years, the Education authorities failed to look back and do justice with this neglected old High School.
Sharma said that neither former MLA Dr Manohar Lal during his two tenures neither DyCM Dr Nirmal Singh (local MLA) during last three years took this initiative. Once this school, fell victim to the petty politics and it was overlooked. Many Tehsil level offices have been opened in Dinga Amb now but school was not upgraded. He sought the intervention of Chief Minister and Education Minister Altaf Bukhari into the matter.
