JAMMU, Mar 16: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) held a protest demonstration, demanding implementation of the National Food Security Bill according to the aspirations of the people in the State.
Holding banners and raising slogans in support of their demands, the protesters led by JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, urged the Governor N N Vohra to stop the implementation of National Food Security Act, in its present form as it would bring more trouble for people than giving benefit to them.
The protesters burnt the copies of NFSA, and said that they are against the Union CAPD Ministry for giving kanak in place of atta to the people and added that ration card holders are not being supplied Kerosene oil, sugar and other food items which are supplied to the ration holder in the State.
Dimple appealed the people of the State and particularly of the Jammu region not to lift wheat and other food grains from the ration depots. He demanded that implementation of the NFSA be kept in abeyance, till the formation of the new Government as there are lot of irregularities and short comings in the Act.
Dimple demanded that 10 kg atta per member should be given to each family, as 7 kg per member is insufficient and all the ration card holders BPL, APL families should get the benefit of the Food Security Bill.
He said the ration is being sold in black market by the ration dealers and the customers are being harassed and over burdened by the list of formalities and for the ration cards.
