JAMMU, Oct 14: Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement today called upon S S Kapoor the Chairman, Water Regulatory Authority and apprised him of the problems faced upon by the people of the Jammu region, city and particularly the people of the Jammu West Assembly Constituency.
Registering strong protest with K K Gupta, Chief Engineer PHE for increasing the water tariff, installation of the meters on the water taps and acute sacrcity of the drinking water in Jammu city, he discussed that the work on the supply of Chenab project should be started immediately as it is lying in the cold stores of the Government offices and ERA, repair all the old defunct pipes of the Jammu city and demanded from the Chairman Water Regulatory Commission, that the water to the people of Jammu and Kashmir State should be provided totally “free of cost” and there should be no water rent.
Dimple further demanded not to harass the innocent people for depositing huge water tariff, otherwise they will hold protests and start indefinite Jan Andolan against the PHE Ministry.
He also demanded for the purchase of more water tanker for the Jammu city.
Later talking to media persons Sunil Dimple appealed the people of the State and the Jammu region not to deposit the water rent to the Government till appropriate decision is taken.
