JAMMU, Dec 19: Joining coveted list of Jammu stage actors with enormous talent for comedy, Dilshad Ahmed emerged as darling of audience for versatility, spontaneity improvisation and perfect sense of timing in his two comic roles in Yogesh Tripathi play ‘Keshav Leela Ramrangeela’ staged on the penultimate day of annual drama festival, at the Abhinav Theatre, here today.
Presented by Pooja Kala Sangam and directed by Aditya Bhanu, the play in Hindi, a satire on social evils such as power abuse and forms of corruption entrenched in the society, develops on the story of two thieves, Keshav and Leela who in a bid to make a fast buck leave their village Ratnagiri and move to Kanchanvadi. Where they come to know about a very rich but shrewd Nagar-Seth Ramrangeela and decide to rob him. Keshav poses to be a Sadhu whereas Leela masquerades as princess. Both thieves banking upon the greedy nature of the Ramrangeela hatch a brilliant plan take way all his money.
Other than Dilshad Ahmad who brilliantly enacted roles of Ramrangeela and Gadhadhar in highly entertaining manner, the members of cast who also gave notable performances included Aditya Bhanu as Keshav, Reetu as Leela and Sungadhi Goel as Lajjavati. Other actors were Pooja Verma as Sethani, Karishma Bajgal as Vaitalika, Vinay Daggar as Lajjadhar, Anil Kotwal as Raja and Mohit Khajuria as Govind.
The background music was by Satish Dogra, costumes by Krishan Bajgal, make-up by Reetu, and lights by Pankaj Sharma. Dilshad Ahmed also assisted in direction. Tomorrow the annual drama festival will conclude with Shivani Cultural Society’s presentation of Pishach Yatra, written and directed by Vikram Sharma.
