Digital payments

Sir,
Nantoo Banerjee in his article ‘Digital payments are shrinking’ DE Feb 15 has brought forth a stark reality which needs to be considered on priority if India is to be made digital.
There are many glaring hiccups in digitizing India. The Government should lay emphasis on creating necessary infrastructure for this purpose in the country. There is tremendous  lack of infrastructure in rural areas. Even now there are places where there is no mobile connectivity and people are not literate enough to go digital. Besides, it’s the mindset of people that is to be changed first. It is very difficult for people to switch over from one medium to another instantly.
The people have to be assured that digital transactions are safe as fear of fradusters lurks in the minds of people.
Need of the hour is to take into account all aspects of digitisation into account, the people then will have no hesitation to conduct their transactions in digital mode.
Yours etc…
