JAMMU, Apr 14: Emphasising strict action against criminals, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shridhar Patil, today directed police officers to ensure that offenders are brought to justice from wherever they are, while adopting modern and professional methods to tackle emerging challenges.
The directions were issued during a comprehensive crime, security and law and order review meeting held at District Police Lines, Jammu.
SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, presented a detailed overview of the prevailing crime scenario and the strategies being implemented across the district during the meeting.
The DIG conducted an in-depth review of various aspects of policing and stressed the need to update core strategies in line with changing crime patterns.
He underscored the importance of technology-driven, innovative and responsive policing to enhance public trust.
He also directed officers to maintain strict law and order protocols, increase police presence during critical hours and ensure prompt response to incidents.
Special focus was laid on the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Abhiyaan, with directions to intensify action against narcotics-related cases.
Officers were asked to step up patrolling, strengthen naka checking and enhance surveillance in sensitive areas through robust monitoring mechanisms.
The DIG JSK Range also stressed the need to break the nexus of narco-terror and other criminal activities, besides taking effective measures to prevent thefts.
Reviewing investigations, the DIG directed officers to ensure timely disposal of pending cases and improve conviction rates through professional and result-oriented policing.
He further asked for strengthening of the anti-infiltration grid, strict implementation of SOPs for Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in border areas and reinforcement of the city security grid.
The DIG also emphasized close coordination with intelligence agencies and the need to boost community policing initiatives to build public confidence.
Senior officers from the Range Headquarters, district police, supervisory ranks, SHOs and branch heads attended the meeting, which concluded with a a Bada Khana.
