KATHUA, Mar 24: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, today visited border areas of Kathua district and reviewed the security situation.
He was accompanied by SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, SP Operations (Kandi and Border) Mukund and other officers.
During the visit, the DIG JSK Range interacted with police personnel and Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in sensitive areas and assessed preparedness on the ground.
He directed officers and officials to maintain high alertness and professionalism, especially at naka points and other vulnerable locations.
Stressing the need for heightened vigilance, he asked the force to strengthen checking, particularly during night hours, and keep strict watch on anti-social and anti-national elements.
The DIG also held a meeting with BSF authorities to improve coordination under the border management system and discussed the setting up of joint nakas.
He later distributed sweets among jawans on the occasion of ongoing and upcoming festivals, boosting their morale.
