* Calls for joint efforts to end drug-menace

POONCH, Feb 8: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri- Poonch Range, Dr Haseeb Mughal today chaired a civil society interaction meeting at Mendhar sub divisional headquarters and called for collective efforts to end the menace of drugs in the area.
SSP Poonch, Rohit Baskotra, Commandant JKAP 6th Battalion Suram Singh, SDPO Mendhar Sheezan Bhat, SHO Mendhar Neyaz Ahmed and other Police officers were present in the meeting. Civil society members and people from all walks of life including traders, transporters, PRIs, social activists attended this meeting in which they highlighted issues of public importance and also gave series of suggestions
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajouri Poonch Range, Dr Haseeb Mughal assured the participants that all the issues raised by them have been registered and will be resolved on priority. DIG while mentioning different types of crime acts said that drugs menace is the biggest challenge before society and it requires a collaborative approach from all the stakeholders so that this menace is brought to an end and life of future generations is protected.
Dr Mughal while assuring stringent action as per law of the land against people involved in peddling said that parents and guardians also have a vital role in keeping a close vigil on the activities of their wards and this is the first and most important tier of prevention towards drugs. He also impressed upon PRIs, citizens to come forward and share information on narcotics and movement of ANEs to thwart enemy designs and keep supporting law enforcement agencies as done in past to ensure maintenance of peace in region.
