Rotary Club Jammu Tawi honours martyrs’ families, distributes bicycles

JAMMU, Feb 8: A function to honour families of Police martyrs was held today at Rotary Bhawan Jammu and 43 next of kin (NoK) of Police Martyrs as well as one specially challenged Policeman who was injured while fighting terrorists, was honoured during the function.
Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh was the chief guest and Kuldeep Khoda (ex-DGP J&K) was guest of honour. The function was presided over by Dr Dushyant Choudhary, Rotary Governor. At the very outset, two minutes silence was observed to remember the martyrdom of JK Police fallen heroes.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP paid rich tribute to the JK Police martyrs and said J&K Police has made a name for itself. Because of its martyrs our work is being acknowledged locally as also at the national level. Later, he distributes bicycles among the nest of kin of martyrs.
Kuldeep Khoda, while speaking on the occasion, said that J&K Police on its own has taken a lot of initiatives for the families of martyrs but when civil society does anything for them it puts across a different message.
ADGP Headquarters MK Sinha, while speaking on the occasion, expressed his deep and sincere gratitude to the families of martyrs and said that it is actually the saga of sacrifice of JK Police martyrs because of which the presidential color was conferred on JK police which we are wearing with so much of pride today.
ADGP Coordination extended his gratitude to the Rotary Club for acknowledging and remembering the J&K Police martyrs.
Dr Dushyat Choudhary said that Rotary Club will continue this yearly program of honouring Police Martyrs’ families to underline the message that society recognizes the supreme sacrifices of policemen.
Earlier, Ashok Kumar Gupta (IGP retired) presented welcome address. SS Wazir ADGP (retired), R L Bharti (former member PSC), MK Bhardwaj (president Bar Association) and Gaurav Gupta (secretary, Chamber of Commerce) were also present.
Among others, the function was attended by BS Tuti IGP (Headquarters) PHQ, IGsP (retired) PK Gupta, Ravinder Kotwal, Farooq Ahmed, MA Anjum, KK Gupta Chief Engineer (retired), VK Gupta Chief Engineer (retired), Chandan Kohli (SSP Jammu), Abhishek Mahajan AIG (Welfare) PHQ and Manoj Kumar Pandit.
