JAMMU, Jan 24: Different organizations here today celebrated National Girl Child Day and organized different programmes in this regard.
On National Girl Child Day, NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized an online lecture on the topic ‘Understanding Gender and Gender Equality’. The resource person was Dr Rajni Bala, Assistant Professor in Sociology, GDC RS Pura who extensively delved on the process of gendering from the birth of a child.
She talked on the three levels of gender construction- individual, interactional and institutional, gender roles inculcation, reinforcement of roles, the constructed nature of gender inequality and how it can be removed at the time of socialization of child itself.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College RS Pura celebrated National Girl Child Day with the theme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’. The celebrations were held under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Sunita Sudan wherein online poster making competition was organized and the participants made various informative posters on issues of girls.
NSS Units of GDC Kathua celebrated National Girl Child Day by organizing an online poster making competition along with a slogan righting competition. Volunteers made posters on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ and other issues of girls.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Thannamandi celebrated National Girl Child Day wherein poster making competition was held along with a symposium on the topic ‘Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child.
BJP OBC Morcha JK-UT on the directions of Braham Jyot Satti, Morcha President organized programmes in different villages of Jammu to celebrate National Girl Child Day. In these programmes sweets and other eatables were distributed among girls.
