MENDHAR, Sept 21: The people of Pir Panjal belt, especially those hailing from Mendhar are up against the present dispensation’s phlegmatic attitude towards people’s issues and problems, and they have decided not to accept such indifference in future.
This was stated by Javed Ahmed Rana, president of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Pir Panjal Zone and former legislator while criticizing the present dispensation for doing virtually nothing for providing the succor to the masses.
Addressing a meeting of locals in Mendhar, the NC leader said that Pir Panjal region is the worst example of apathetic attitude of the helmsmen as on all fronts the area is longing for government attention whether it is road network, other civic infrastructure, healthcare or for that matter education sector. He said that the roads here are dilapidated but those responsible for looking after them are unmoved as if they have no accountability for the dismal scenario leading to unbearable hardships to people.
Javed Rana refuted the remarks of LG Sinha that the government has carried out development works in Jammu and Kashmir that has not witnessed in last 20 years. He apprised the Lt Governor that the roads Dharana to Malakpur, Gursai Morh to Gursai Nahalla via Gorsi and Bhera to Qasab Ari are in dilapidated condition and no initiative has been taken by the government to address the same. He also raised serious concern over embezzlement of funds under NABRAD and PHE Schemes. He said corruption is peak at the present regime as the government miserably failed to take necessary steps to eradicate the corrupt practices.
The senior NC leader said that government has only expertise in rhetoric but on ground the performance is so poor that people are short of words to explain the miserable condition. He categorically mentioned the gloomy picture of Dharana- Malakpur road claiming that the condition of this so-called facility reminds one and all of Stone Age because in the name of blacktopping there are many stretches where only muddy strips have been left.
Rana demanded that this road and few others need to be brought under some plan and should be repaired henceforth as people cannot be left on mercy of God for long.
