Dhanwantri Jayanti celebrated with enthusiasm, charm

JAMMU, Nov 1: Dhanwantri (Lord of Ayurveda) Jayanti was celebrated today with full enthusiasm and charm.
Indigenous Medicine Organisation (IMO) held a grand function to commemorate the Jayanti here today. The function was held under the chairmanship of Dr K K Gandotra former Dy Director ISM in which a large number of professionals participated.
While paying floral tributes to this great personality, they termed the Lord Dhanwantri as creator of Ayurveda.
Dr Gandotra stressed upon to follow the path shown by Lord Dhanwantri and serve the ailing humanity selflessly with the spirit of dedication.
Dr Mahesh Sharma, general secretary IMO lauded the efforts of the people working in the field specially Director ISM for proper projecting and streamlining the ISM Department. He appealed the Government to start Ayurvedic & Unani Medical College in the State an earliest and also fill up the sanctioned posts of medical officers ISM through PSC 80 percent direct and 20 percent from contractual.
Dr Ashok Sharma presented vote of thanks while Dr Som Dutt, Dr Khazan Singh, Dr K K Kapoor, Dr Vinod, Dr Surinder and Dr Vandana also spoke on the occasion.
Another function was organized at Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
On the occasion, a hawan and pooja was also performed and floral tributes were paid to Lord Dhanwantri by the gathering.
Deputy Director, ISM, Rameshwar Dutt Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who led the gathering in paying floral tributes to Lord.
He also highlighted the role of Ayurveda the ancient system of medicine in the world prevalent since Vedic period.
The function besides the senior in service and retired doctors was also attended by para medical staff. They included Dr Gurmil Kohli ex-Deputy Director, Dr Raj Kumari ex-ADMO, Dr Vinod Mengi, ex- Medical Officer, Dr Sumit Gupta ex-ADMO, Dr Swaran Padha, Dr K K Sharma, Assistant Medical Officer. The programme was orgnanised by Dr Ashok Sharma who also presented the vote of thanks.
